A new crime series on Netflix has viewers completely hooked — with many fans admitting they’ve watched the entire thing in a single night.
Netflix has been on a hot streak lately when it comes to crime content, with several recent releases earning high praise. From a chilling mini-series described as getting “more horrifying with each episode” to a gripping thriller hailed as the “best of 2025,” the platform’s offerings have been hard to ignore.
But the latest series stealing the spotlight is a fresh drama from writer and executive producer Kevin Williamson. Featuring a talented cast including Jake Weary, Melissa Benoist, Maria Bello, Danielle Campbell, and Holt McCallany, the show centers around the fictional Buckley family.
Fans are calling it a “10/10” watch, with its intense storyline and sharp performances prompting viewers to binge all eight episodes in one go.

Titled The Waterfront, the Netflix series follows the Buckley family as they grapple with their crumbling North Carolina fishing empire, and the lengths they’re willing to go to to reinstate their legacy.
Speaking of the new series’ story, Williamson told Tudum: “This is about a working man who’s trying to make a go of it for his family. They’ve pulled themselves up from nothing and they’ve built this mini fishing empire in their small little town.
“Now it’s being taken away from them bit by bit. They’ll do anything to hold onto it, because it represents their family.”
The new crime thriller has become the hot topic of conversation on the ‘Netflix Bangers’ Facebook group, with one viewer dubbing the series a ’10/10′.
“It was good. There were a few episodes where it got out of control,” another person penned, while a third gave their take: “Started this last night, binged 6 episodes really good.”
Meanwhile, a fourth said: “Such a good watch if you like action and killings.”
Discussing the series further, creator Williamson added: “It’s just about a bunch of people who make mistakes. They do some bad things, and then they get in deeper and deeper and deeper.

“Sometimes they keep making worse mistakes, and sometimes they find their way out and do the good thing.”
While fans are full of praise for The Waterfront, the series has very much divided opinion among industry critics.
The Guardian’s Lucy Mangan wrote in her review: “It is escapist summer nonsense with – God, I hope – no pretensions to being otherwise. Dive into the adult creek and wallow in nostalgia as the waves of absurdity sweep towards shore.”
On the other hand, Ben Travers, from IndieWire, penned: “Nothing that happens has to evoke any real emotions, it just has to remind you of shows that did. Even if you haven’t seen Ozark or Yellowstone – heck, even if The Waterfront is the first series you’ve ever seen – there’s no mistaking a sinking ship.”
