Body of Missing British Man, 32, Discovered in Georgia After Vanishing in Florida Two Years Ago

The remains of Alex Hodgson Doughty, a 32-year-old British man who disappeared in Florida in September 2022, have been found in a wooded area of private land in Kingsland, Georgia.

Doughty was living in Jacksonville, Florida, at the time of his disappearance. Reports suggest he traveled to Kingsland using the Uber app before going missing. Authorities recovered his remains on February 4.

FBI Special Agent in Charge Kristin Rehler extended condolences to Doughty’s family, stating, “While this is not the outcome we had hoped for, we are grateful to bring his loved ones some closure.” She credited the discovery to the FBI Jacksonville’s Cellular Analysis Survey Team (CAST) and their expertise in narrowing search areas.

The FBI has ruled out foul play but has not disclosed further details regarding the cause of death.

Doughty was reported missing by his mother after she was unable to reach him. Investigators eventually tracked his location using mobile phone data to retrace his movements.

An official told First Coast News, “Rather than relying on traditional interviews, we used geolocation and digital footprints from everyday electronics to reconstruct his last known movements and focus the search.”

Authorities are continuing to investigate the reason for Doughty’s trip to Kingsland before his disappearance.
