At least 30 bodies have been recovered from the Potomac River following a devastating collision between an American Airlines passenger plane and a Black Hawk helicopter.
Authorities have yet to confirm if there are any survivors, including those aboard the military aircraft. Chilling audio recordings suggest the helicopter failed to follow instructions, approaching the jet from behind instead of maintaining proper speed and trajectory.
The passenger plane was reportedly on course for landing as directed by air traffic control. However, questions remain about why the helicopter did not avoid the aircraft, especially since weather conditions were clear and the plane’s lights were fully operational.
The Black Hawk was conducting a routine military training exercise, but its decision to cross paths with the jet remains under investigation.

Eyewitnesses described a massive fireball following the collision, with debris plunging into the river. Rescue efforts have been hampered by freezing temperatures, raising fears that the chances of finding survivors are diminishing.
